Our involvement and experience in refurbishing old pipelines extends to completing major schemes, where we install loose or close fitting liners within existing metallic pipeline systems. Where appropriate, we will work with other specialist companies in a partnership, to provide you with a single point of contact for the supply of the liner materials, the fittings technologies, the installation and commissioning skills. Where you have special needs, we can assist you at the design stage and we can include bespoke testing to ensure fitness for purpose of the proposed solution for your application.
If the existing old pipeline has some residual strength, cost effective polyethylene liners can be installed to interact with it. This will ensure that the leak tightness of the structure is retained, thereby extending the service life of your existing pipeline before full replacement. Equally, if the pipe is weakened, then we simply use the bore of the pipe as a conduit into which a new full pressure rated pipe is inserted.
We offer flexible solutions and provide bespoke pipe sizes to match the bore of your old pipeline to maximise the available flow capacity. We can make available the welding equipment to join this on site, as well as the tools and skills to your old pipeline. Some of the unusual systems we have developed include a 296mm system for 12" pipe insertion, 440mm for 18" pipe insertion, with sizes up to 1200mm diameter available as an option.
As important as the liner inside the old pipeline is, ensuring that the fittings are available, both to connect to the liner itself, and to take branch or lateral off-takes from the system, is equally important. We can supply proprietary electrofusion welded connections, with compatible inserts, and evidence based performance, as well as mechanical liner grip fittings, if preferred.
For branch or lateral connections, our specialist offering is the ability to remove a "window" from the original pipe to reveal the liner inside, and then make an electrofusion welded connection to the liner. We carry out on site assessment of the liner, once exposed, and then manufacture custom saddles to match the installed pipe, ensuring that a good fit and high integrity weld is achieved – this can be done on loose fit liners, close fit liners, (e.g. die drawn techniques), and folded liners. This approach, unique to RadiusPLUS, will bring you cost savings through a significant smaller excavation and fewer cut-outs from the pipeline.
